MD Helicopters, Inc. Sets Delivery Record
Most Deliveries in One Week
Mesa, AZ, September 17, 2008 – MD Helicopters, Inc (MDHI) has announced that it delivered five new helicopters during the last week of August, another new record for the company.
During the week, Gulf Helicopters (GHC), a wholly-owned unit of Gulf International Services (GIS), received a new MD Explorer helicopter. Following a six month evaluation & trial program, Gulf Helicopters in partnership with the National Health Authority of Qatar, selected the MD 902 Explorer as the aircraft of choice to meet Qatar’s long term Helicopter Emergency Medical Services requirements. “The drivers for selecting the MD Explorer were safety, performance, and economics,” stated Fred Layton, General Manager at Gulf. “Having evaluated several light twins for this role, the Explorer was the clear winner based on our standard mission profile and proven performance in high temperature environment. We welcome the added capability this helicopter brings to our current operating fleet.”
The Pomona Police Aviation Unit received a new MD 500E helicopter. Pomona Aviation Unit was formed many years ago utilizing military surplus OH-6 helicopters. They were thrilled about their new MD 500E which will provide a significant increase in performance due to higher useful load capacity and more time before overhaul of components. The MD 500E will also provide lower operating cost and better budget management.
Helisul Taxi Aereo in Brazil received a new MD 600N (their second MD 600N since December of 2007) from MD Distributor and Authorized Service Center Helicentro in Sao Paulo Brazil. Captain Eloy Biesuz, President of Helisul Taxi Aereo, stated “The safety of our customers is our main concern. The NOTAR™ technology makes this possible when flying and when we are on the ground.”
Captain Biesuz also said that because of the NOTAR system employed exclusively on MD aircraft, they will fly well within IBAMA (Brazilian Institute for Environment and Renewable Resources) guidelines which require low noise levels.
Rounding out the five deliveries, were two new MD 500Es that were purchased by Corporate Helicopters in San Diego, California. Corporate Helicopters provides charters, tours and aerial photographic services and resells helicopters and helicopter parts.
“It was a busy and eventful week for us,” said Craig Kitchen, Chief Operating Officer for MD Helicopters, Inc. “And it is indicative of our turnaround and growth. To meet the demand for our aircraft we anticipate many more weeks like this one.”
