MDHI Takes Significant Share of Airborne Law Market
DALLAS, Texas, Feb. 9, 2003 - The airborne law enforcement market continues to be a stronghold for MD Helicopters, Inc. (MDHI). The company booked nine law sales in 2002 and delivered four single-engine law helicopters in the weeks leading up to Heli-Expo 2003. All of the deliveries were to repeat customers who are expanding their fleets of MDHI helicopters. They include:
-
The Mesa, Ariz., Police Department took delivery of its third MD 500E in December.
-
The Oklahoma City, Okla., Police Department took delivery of its second MD 500E in December. The helicopter is on display this week at the MDHI booth (1241).
-
The San Diego County Sheriff's Department in San Diego, Calif., took delivery of its second MD 530F, augmenting is existing fleet of five MD 500s.
-
The Las Vegas, Nev., Police Department took delivery of its third MD 530F, adding to its fleet of two MD 500s.
"We do exceptionally well in the airborne law enforcement market, and that's a point of pride for MDHI," said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Henk Schaeken. "Our products have the top performance law enforcers need for quick response, plus they are reliable, backed by solid product support, and they are affordable to operate. It's the whole package."
The MD 500 Series product line has captured an average 31 percent share of the public service helicopter market, based on deliveries since 1999, according to the Helicas Fleet Analysis Program. That's considerably higher than MDHI's overall market share of 7 percent.
"We're proud of our achievement," Schaeken said. "The true test of success is customers who keep coming back based on their satisfaction with the product. The MD 500 has a history of operating costs that is very definable, which is important to the budget conscious law user."
MDHI is based in Mesa, Ariz. The company produces five helicopters including the twin-engine MD Explorer and the single-engine MD 600N, MD 520N, MD 500E and MD 530F.
MDHI is celebrating its fourth anniversary this week at Heli-Expo 2003.
